This is a two-week summer course designed for young artists aged 10-13 who are excited to explore the world of clay and develop their creativity through hands-on pottery experiences. Throughout the camp, participants will be guided through a series of fun and engaging projects, each designed to help them develop their skills and imagination in 3D art. Kids will have the opportunity to explore different sculptural and functional ceramic creations, from textured clay creatures to personalized trinket boxes. We will explore a variety of handbuilding techniques such as pinch pots, coil building, and slab construction, while fostering self-expression and confidence in the artmaking process.
Course Highlights:
Introduction to handbuilding techniques (pinch pots, coils, slabs)
Open ended prompts for each project to allow for creative expression and problem solving.
Explorations of textures, sculpting, underglaze, and glaze.
Small group sizes for individual attention and guidance.

Designed for kids who are eager to learn more about clay and 3D art.
By the end of the camp, each child will take home several one-of-a-kind, personalized ceramic pieces made by them. They will also have a deeper understanding of the ceramic process!

* Please note: All sales are final. If cancellation occurs within one week of class commencement a studio credit for future classes or merchandise will be issued. Cancellations less than 7 days notice will not be considered for refunds or credits.
Participation Policies
A parent or guardian must be present in the studio for pick up and drop off. A sign-off from Kory, Clint, or Mae is required.
Pick-up slips will be provided to each parent/guardian on each day of class and MUST be presented when picking up.
A waiver of liability must be signed on the first day of class.
Snacks and drinks will be provided during class. Parents/guardians will be responsible for sharing any food or environmental allergy concerns.
Parents/guardians may remain in the studio lounge during class time if desired.
Meet Mae
Mae Pfeifer is a working artist and art educator based in Cleveland, Ohio. She currently teaches middle school art for Mentor Public Schools, elementary ages at the Cleveland Museum of Art’s Creativity Camp, and kids pottery classes at Alchemy Studio. Mae’s recent ceramic work draws deeply from the curiosity and unfiltered creativity of students in her classroom, allowing their approach to making, which is rooted in simple joys, to influence her own work. She holds a degree in Art Education from Kent State University.
